Motivational interviewing (MI) is a communication technique used to help people facing ambivalence and support those ready to make a change in health behavior. This technique is evidence-based and is a useful tool for navigators, care coordinators, health educators, nurses, and others who are working with clients on changing behaviors.
In this interactive course, you will learn basic MI techniques you can use with patients to help support behavior change: open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening and summarizing.
You will also learn specific MI techniques to guide respectful and empathetic discussions around vaccination. As a trusted messenger, you can help provide reliable information about COVID-19 vaccinations and other routine immunizations. You will build on foundational MI skills to navigate challenging conversations with clients, with time for guided practice.
You will receive a free skills assessment as part of this training. Participants will also receive a certificate of completion.
