The Patient Navigation and Community Health Worker Training program is pleased to have two team members present at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, Nov. 1-4, 2026.
Shenazar (Shane) Esmundo, DrPH, MPH, presented results from her dissertation, CHW Voices, which provided an in-depth look at the lived and work experiences of CHWs and supervisors in Colorado. Program director Erin Martinez, MPH, presented on patient navigator/CHW workforce development and credentialing efforts in Colorado over the last 20 years.
CHWs and CHW allies gathered at the national conference to discuss many important topics, including sustainability, financing and reimbursement models, and how to best support CHWs in the vital work they do.
