Colorado CHW Registry
Are you interested in becoming a credentialed Community Health Worker (CHW) and having your name listed on the Colorado CHW Registry?
Colorado uses “Community Health Worker” as an umbrella term or job classification for individuals who may go by many names, such as Promotores or Promotoras de salud, Health Navigators, Patient Navigators, Health Promoters, Community Outreach Workers, or Community Health Representatives.
The Colorado CHW registry allows employers to ensure they are hiring navigators who have demonstrated that they meet a standard set of competencies (skills). Demonstrating those competencies helps to elevate the recognition of health navigators as professionals.
To earn a spot on the registry, CHWs are required to take training from a state-recognized training program and take the competency assessment.
The Patient Navigation and Community Health Worker Training Program has been awarded recognition at a state-recognized training program.
To earn a spot on the registry:
- Complete the required coursework (see pathway at right).
- Create an account on Certemy for training verification.
- You will be sent a link to register for an upcoming assessment once your training is verified.
- You must pass the assessment to be credentialed.
You may also qualify for credentialing through the work experience pathway or if you have a CHW credential from another state. For full details, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment’s CHW Workforce Development page.
