Level 1: Health Navigation Fundamentals is designed to improve basic patient navigation skills. This virtual course covers patient navigator role and history, effective communication, connecting clients to to resources, basic health promotion, and professional boundaries. This course will be culturally adapted and delivered in Arabic.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week (1 hour live learning session and 1-2 hours homework)
Live Learning Session Course Schedule (12-1 pm MT Tuesdays for 8 weeks):
- Oct 1 – Course Orientation
- Oct 8 – Patient Navigation History and Role of the Patient Navigator
- Oct 15 – Effective Communication
- Oct 22 – Health Literacy
- Oct 29 – Health Promotion
- Nov 5 – Patient Needs Assessments
- Nov 12 – Role Play Activity (This session will be 2 hours.)
- Nov 19 – Professional Boundaries, Ethics, and Self Care (This session will be 90 minutes to wrap up the course.)
