Community Education and Facilitation

Welcome! This course has been designed to enhance group facilitation and education skills.  The skills can be applied to any type of group including health and education settings. (is this necessary?– Appropriate participants may include new group facilitators, educators looking to enhance group facilitation skills, and/or those looking to implement a group-level intervention in the care or prevention arena.) Participants will have the opportunity to assess their own facilitation skills, learn about dealing with challenges, and how to fortify their skills.

**Please note: This course uses a variety of applications from Google’s Suite of products. If your agency does not allow access to Google’s Suite of products, please be prepared to use a non-agency computer and/or join from a non-agency network.**

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Explain the benefits of using groups in Community Education.
  • Define facilitation, education, and presentation.
  • Discuss how co-facilitation skills can affect overall group facilitation.
  • Identify the four steps of giving feedback
  • Analyze solutions to group challenges
  • Describe the importance of an outline and objectives when creating a presentation. 
  • Discuss how to use effective presentation skills.
