Situational awareness is being aware of what is going on around you and whether anyone or anything is a threat to your health and safety. In this course, you will learn basic situational awareness techniques to use before, during and after conducting home visits.

Audience: Community health workers making visits to see clients at their place of residence, including homes, motels or shelters/temporary housing.

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Define situational awareness
  • List safety steps before conducting a home visit
  • List safety steps during a home visit
  • Be prepared with a plan of action if “something does not feel right” or presented with a threat to your safety.
